Quarantine Beauty Hacks | Wilmington, NC Boudoir Photography

Updated: Sep 13, 2021

We're all so over this quarantine, especially since we miss our little luxuries of getting pampered. Oh, the sweet sweet memories of getting our grooming needs taken care of and chatting it up with our stylists and artists.

While our country is slowly opening up, it might still be hard to get into our favorite beauty spots and I don't know about you, honey but I feel like a troll living under a bridge and could use some serious TLC! So, I did some research and compiled a list of beauty hacks to help us get by until we can safely visit our salons once more.

If you have an upcoming shoot with us and are still unable to get your appointments in, these options will work perfectly for your close ups! The following products come recommended by myself, my clients & friends, and our very own hair and makeup team.

Root Touchup

If you're not ready to embrace your gray or silver hair yet, there are some temporary fixes available! These all wash out with a good shampooing and there's something for every price range.

Nails

There are lots of different options when it comes to nails. I've even had clients in the past who decided to DIY their nails before their session and they looked fabulous with these products!! Just be sure to clean up those cuticles, too and you're good to go.

  • Kiss Press on Nails: this is a great option if you still want that acrylic look. Short french tips are my favorite timeless look, but they also have other varieties to choose from

  • OPI Nail Lacquer: if you have a steady hand and patience to paint your own nails, a polish will last a lot longer and look beautiful on natural nails. OPI is my go-to brand of polish.

  • Dashing Diva Nail Strips: these fun strips are like little stickers for your nails. They're a quick and great option if you simply don't want to watch paint dry...on your nails.

Hair Removal

For this category, I wanted to put items that I love and use often. I personally don't get my hair removed professionally so I swear by these options to keep pesky body hair away.

  • DermaPlane Facial Razors: one of my makeup artists suggested using these instead of wax with fine facial hair. Makeup can make waxed areas of the face more noticeable if you're only waxing certain sections. These razors remove that peach fuzz and exfoliates at the same time so your makeup applies perfectly even.

  • GiGi Brazilan Bikini Wax: I won't lie...you definitely have to be brave to wax your own bikini line! There is a learning curve with this stuff so make sure to follow the directions exactly. I also use this product under my arms so I recommend starting there first to get the hang of it. Another tip: I pat baby powder over the areas immediately before I apply the wax. I'm not sure why that helps, but it does!

  • Bic Flex 5 Razor: I don't know if anyone else has this problem, but women's razors don't give me a close enough shave. So I opt for a mens' razor to get my legs sooooo smooth! I was recently impressed with this women's deluxe razor, too if you want something nicer. Do you prefer waxing your legs? Check out these hard wax beans. I'm just too lazy for all that!

So there you have it! Some beauty hacks to get us through these rough times and make us feel human again. Even if you still have nowhere to go and are feeling blue, using these items can still bring you joy and boost your mindset. I know I instantly feel better when I do my nails and shave during our stay at home order. Try it out, you'll be feeling good in no time!

Hey you, lookin' all fresh...let's capture that beauty!
